November 28, 1966 – October 16, 2026

Portrait of Catherine Wible Aaron

Catherine Wible Aaron was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, and a woman of extraordinary grace, intelligence and courage. She died at her home in Greenwich, Connecticut, on October 16, 2026, after a ten-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 59.

Catherine grew up in Owensboro, Kentucky, where childhood visits to her father's law office gave her a lifelong passion for the law. She graduated from Northwestern University, where she was president of Pi Beta Phi and later served on its Alumni Board. She earned her law degree from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was a member of the Law Review. She went on to an exceptional legal career that took her from Georgia to Chicago and finally to New York City with Sullivan & Cromwell.

She had a quiet wit and loved books, music and travel. For all her professional accomplishments and wide-ranging interests, what mattered most to her was time with her husband, Paul Aaron, and their son, Paul Theodore “Teddy” Aaron. Nothing made her happier than being Teddy's mother. He was the center of her world, her greatest source of pride and the achievement she cherished above all others.

Catherine was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2016. From the beginning, she refused to let the diagnosis define her or limit her future. She approached her illness with the same intelligence, discipline and resolve that defined her life.

“I am not a statistic.”

She fought until the very end. Her mother, Diane Christopher Wible, died just four days before her.
